World Ranking - Principles

The present world ranking relies primarily on the present national rankings of Sweden and Finland (the latter is unofficial). The order from the national rankings have been kept unchanged.

Secondarily, the ranking is based on results and observations from the only two international tournaments that have been played sofar; Gothenburg Racketlon World Open in November 2001 and the Finnish Open Championships in May 2002. Since this is a fairly small basis and since not all players took part in both tournaments the ranking positions have been decided through discussions involving both Finland and Sweden. Below is an account of the main arguments.

1. Mikko Kärkkäinen (FIN) - of course! He won both in Sweden and in Finland, beating Eliasson on both occasions.
2. Magnus Eliasson (SWE) -
dominant Swedish number 1.
3. Roland Helle (SWE) - often close to beat Eliasson. Beat Kemppinen (+14) in Finland.
4. Toni Kemppinen (FIN) - World Open finalist. Winner of last year's Finnish championships where he beat Kärkkäinen(!) in the final. But he lost to both Eliasson (-17) and Helle (-14) in Finland.
5. Ari-Matti Koskinen (FIN) -
beat both Källberg and (a very tired) Helle(!) in Finland. But he has never taken part in World Open and is behind Kemppinen in the unofficial Finnish ranking.
6. Mats Källberg (SWE) - lost (-18) to Koskinen in Finland.
7. Stefan Larsson (SWE)
8. Harri Suutarinen (FIN) -
dominant Finnish player during several years until a few years ago. Lost to Helle in Finland. Never took part in World Open.
9. Daniel Brodén (SWE)
10. Mika Hasmats (SWE)
