World Ranking - Principles

The present world ranking relies primarily on the present national rankings of Sweden and Finland (the latter is unofficial). The order from the national rankings has, in most cases, been kept unchanged.

Secondarily, the ranking is based on results and observations from tournaments, most notably the World Championships (Gothenburg Racketlon World Open). Since this is still a fairly small basis the ranking positions have been decided through discussions and reasoning within the International Racketlon Federation. Below is an account of the main arguments.

1. (2) Magnus Eliasson (SWE) - World Champion, 2002. Winner of Scottish Open in August. Winner
of English Open in October.
2. (1) Mikko Kärkkäinen (FIN)
- Winner of World Open 2001 and the Finnish Open 2002. Played
Eliasson twice, never lost. Beat Källberg (+18) in the World Open Team Event but then contracted a
thigh injury in the first round of the individual tournament and lost to Källberg in the second round.
3. (6) Mats Källberg (SWE)
- Runner-up in the World Championships. #2 on the Swedish ranking.
4. (3) Roland Helle (SWE)
- Runner-up in English Open where he beat Adamsson in the quarter final.
5. (7) Stefan Adamsson (SWE)
- before Helle on the Swedish ranking.
6. (4) Toni Kemppinen (FIN)
- Did not take part in the World Championships. Lost to both Helle and
Eliasson in Finnish Open in May.
7. (5) Ari-Matti Koskinen (FIN)
- Did not take part in the World Championships. Beat Helle(!) in
Finnish Open.
8. (-) Staffan Ericsson (SWE)
- took 3rd prize in the World Championships, his first elite tournament
(and second racketlon tournament), where he beat Lazarus, Larsson and Carleke.
9. (-) Ola Carleke (SWE)
- #4 in the World Championships. Beat Sene and Helle(!)
10. (8) Harri Suutarinen (FIN)
- Did not take part in the World Championships.

Out from top 10

(9) Stefan Larsson (SWE)
- Lost to Ericsson (-9) in the World Championships. Dropped behind
Carleke on the Swedish ranking.
(10) Nicloas Sene (FRA)
- lost (-13) to Carleke in the World Championships
