This is the presently known application status for the Next Generation Scottish Racketlon Championships to be played on the weekend of 10th-11th of August.

On the 24th of July (four days after application deadline), there were in total 22 applicants (out of which at least 5 were Ladies' entries and 6 were entries from outside Scotland - 5 Swedes and 1 Finn). Here follows a list of some of the better quality applicants. Which of the 5 prominent Scottish racket players below will be able to threaten Racketlon World no:2 Magnus Eliasson? (Personally I believe Bruce Russel will have a good chance! His combination of extremely good squash and very good badminton is probably enough to make Eliasson sweat already.) Will the World Ranking look the same after this tournament (I doubt it...) or will Scotland be the first nation to break the Finnish/Swedish dominance?

From Scotland:

- Gavin Rumgay - Presently Scottish No2 table tennis and former good junior tennis. He will play in the Racketlon event only one week after representing Scotland at the Commonwealth Games
- Bruce Russell. Aged 39, he is a former Full Scottish International Squash Player and a former Scottish U21 Badminton Player.
- Alastair Baker - former Badminton internationalist and very good squash player
- Steven Thomson - current No5 ranked badminton mixed player and good tennis player
- Michael Auchterlonie - reached no.3 in Scotland at Table Tennis in 1999/2000, played in the World Championships. Plays tennis to a 4.2 standard (English Rating), was a junior town badminton champion and play league level squash.

From outside Scotland:

- Lilian Druve - World no:2 and increasingly dominant Swedish no: 1 in Racketlon (ladies). Only lost one racketlon match in her life (against World no:1 Katja Aminoff from Finland)
- Magnus Eliasson - current world no: 2 in Racketlon and dominant Swedish number 1 during the last couple of years. Best discipline probably squash (ranked among the top hundred in Sweden). Former professional ice hockey player.
- Rickard Persson - Swedish no:9 in Racketlon. Best discipline: table tennis.
- Teuvo Tuominen - former (1993) Finnish Racketlon Champion in the "lower Elite" class.

All participants are guaranteed at least 3 matches.

Although formal application deadline has been passed late applicants have a good chance to be considered by sending an e-mail to Scottish_Racketlon@Bigfoot.com before 31st of July. (See the invitation posted under EVENTS on the Racketlon.com startpage)
