18:00 Text Results Reporting - Format Requirements
Date: 2005-05-11
_________________

According to the Tour Requirements Specification it is a requirement that results - as of the quarterfinals - in all "Open" classes (i.e. Elite, Junior, Veteran) are reported in text format(!), on the last day of the event before 18:00 on the Breaking News function on Racketlon.com. The main purpose of this requirement is to make it possible for local media responsibles to report the results to national/local newspapers. It is often not a difficult thing to make newspapers take in Racketlon results in their ordinary results sections. Just the opposite the newspapers will often appreciate the material. And it has the potential to raise Racketlon awareness considerably!

The format that shall be used for the reporting is defined below by means of an example from the 2004 Gothenburg Open and it is important to note the following:

- Make Cut-and-paste Easy. In order to make it easy for the local media responsibles to forward the results in e-mails it is important that the results are presented in one big chunk of text suitable for cut-and-paste, structured as below.

- The sport order should be indicated by abbreviations in the first result as below (If it is written out more explicitly it risks being cut away by the editor of the newspaper who often aims at making the results as condensed as possible.)

- Be sure to include the nationality of the players (even the domestic ones) since we want to make people aware that Racketlon is an international sport.

- A gummi-arm tie-break shall be reported as if it was a fifth separate set, e.g:
Rickard Persson (Swe) - John O'Donnell (Eng) +1 (21-13, 5-21, 21-19, 21-15, 1-0)
