This page contains the proposals for changes of the Racketlon Rules brought forward by the FIR Rules Officer in connection with the 2007 FIR AGM. The changes proposed mainly concern the rules specific to doubles and team events. It has been updated with an account of the actual decisions taken at the AGM (in underlined bold italics).

Starting Point;
Present Rules Documents:

General Racketlon Rules
Doubles Specific Rules

Proposed End Point;
Rules Document Proposed by Rules Officer (one single document):

A) Racketlon Rules
- This is what the final rules document would look like if the recommendations of the Rules Officer all go through.

Proposed Changes (the "Road" to the "End Point"):

B) Review of Present Rules
- The present two rules documents collapsed into one and needs for change identified.

C) Proposed Smaller Changes
- The rules document updated with "smaller" changes (expected to require only minor discussion; mainly changes to the wording).

D) Proposed Team Event Addition
- It is proposed that we introduce a section about Team Events in the Racketlon Rules. (Until now the team event has only been regulated in the Tournament Rules - and only briefly.)

E) Proposal for Change of the Doubles Squash Rule
- The present doubles rules for squash says that that the best ranked players play first while the worst ranked players play last. A couple of alternatives to this rule have been proposed by various people and they are described in this document.

Proposed Process:

1) Vote on "Proposed End Point" (A above)
If A is approved by two thirds majority of the AGM then that's it. No further discussion needed. Document approved in full.
If not, then proceed as follows:

2) Vote on Proposed Smaller Changes (C above)
If C is approved by two thirds majority of the AGM then the corresponding "smaller changes" will be introduced into the Racketlon rules.
Rotterdam AGM Decision: Approved with one exception (Doubles receiver on forehand stays the same throughout the set)

3) Vote on Proposed Team Event Addition (D above)
If D is approved by two thirds majority of the AGM then the corresponding addition will be introduced into the rules.
Rotterdam AGM Decision: Approved with one exception (Team match order stays the same as before; e.g. M1, L1, M2, M3)

4) Vote on the Doubles Squash Rule (E above)
If any of the alternative proposals in E is approved by two thirds majority of the AGM then it will be introduced into the rules.
Rotterdam AGM Decision: "Keep as is." (None of the proposals got the two thirds majority needed for a change.)
