Below is the Gothenburg ranking list as of 2002-04-28. Eight people (bold in the list) were admitted to the May TOP 8 event. The top 4 of these were seeded. The positions of number 3-4 and 5-8 respectively were decided by the drawing of lots with the following two conditions:
1) Each player is guaranteed not to face the same opponent in the first round twice in a row.
2) Identical semifinals in two consecutive TOP 8 events are avoided.
There are no qualification matches this time since there were only eight applicants at application deadline.
