Rules
The official FIR Racketlon Rules apply. See www.racketlon.com
or www.racketlon.net.
Note especially some of the doubles specific rules:
- For table tennis, badminton and tennis, all matches are played
in doubles. Squash is an exception though where half a singles match
each is played; The "first" players start and play until
11 is reached, then the "last" players continue the match
to a finish. In each pair the "first" player is the one
with the highest position on the Racketlon world ranking.
- In all sports (except squash) ends are switched at 11. In table
tennis, the player who was in turn to serve before the switch starts
serving on the new end. The receiving pair, however, has to swap
at 11 so that each of the servers get to serve on different receivers
after the swap.
Sport Specific Conditions (preliminary information!)
Table Tennis
Balls: Stiga Orange 3*, 40 mm
Squash
Balls: Head (2 yellow dots)
Badminton
Feather Shuttlecocks: Trump 101
Tennis
Balls: Tretorn Z (preassurised) (Swedish: gasbollar)
Surface: Bolltex Carpet Surface (Swedish: Filt) (indoors)
In which class am I allowed to play?
- The Official FIR
Racketlon World Ranking and the Official Swedish
Racketlon Ranking will both (together with the class chosen
by each player at entry) be used as guidelines to decide the allocation
of players onto the A, B, C and D classes. Generally, this means
that a player that appears in a place corresponding to a certain
class in any of the two rankings will not be allowed to take part
in a lower class but he will be allowed to challenge the players
in a higher class.
- Players that reached the semi-final of last year's Gothenburg
Open will be forced to participate at the next higher level (at
least) this year.
- To qualify for the Men's D (Beginner's) Class you need to be of
max "club level" (Swe: Korpspelare) standard in
each of the 4 sports. This means that if you have been a licensed
player taking part in regional tournaments in any of the 4 sports
you will not be allowed to take part in the Beginner's Class.
- Participation in both a doubles class and a singles class is welcome
- but participation in both Men's and Mixed Doubles will not be
possible due to time schedule constraints.
- Tournament management reserve the right to deny participation
in more than one singles class (even in cases when the player is
listed as "admitted" in the Entry list).
- Tournament management (in cooperation with the FIR) reserve the
right to make exceptions from these general rules.
Other Conditions of Play
- Please, show respect for our tight time schedule! Walk Over will
occur after only 5 minutes! Max 3+3 minutes between sets (break+warming
up).
- Balls (including shuttlecocks) are included in the entry fee.
- At the end of a group play, if players cannot be separated based
on the number of victories in the group, the result in the individual
match between them will decide. If this is not enough points will
be counted - from the matches between the players involved (all
group matches must be played to the end). If this is not enough,
lots will be drawn.
Players' Dinner
Included in the entry fee a dinner (probably a taco buffet) will
be served in the sport centre on Saturday night at around 19:00.
